Savonlinna Orchestra
The Savonlinna Orchestra, former Savonlinna Music Society, has long occupied a leading position in the musical life of the town, having functioned since 1915.
The core of the present orchestra is a string quartet (Savonlinna Quartet) founded in 1993.
For the orchestral concerts arranged by the Orchestra Society the quartet is joined by teachers and advanced students from the Savonlinna Music and Dance Institute, local amateur musicians and professional musicians as needed.
The Savonlinna Orchestra Society has a long history of partnerships with the numerous local choirs and with other local establishments and communities engaging in music.
