Audience outreach

Tapiola Sinfonietta carries out extensive and diverse outreach work, with the aim of making the wellbeing benefits of music accessible to as many people in Espoo as possible. Audience engagement is an integral part of the orchestra’s daily life: every musician takes part in activities with small ensembles, and visits are made to nurseries, schools, health clinics, hospitals, care homes and various community groups.

The repertoire ranges from concerts for newborns and music playgroups to secondary school tours, hospital musicians and events aimed at older people. In addition, the orchestra stages large-scale children’s concerts and premieres new commissioned works in collaboration with artists and various cultural organisations.

Tapiola Sinfonietta aims to be an orchestra for the whole city, reaching out to people in their everyday environments and creating opportunities to experience music regardless of age, background or circumstances.

Audience outreach work at UMO is a music education and audience education effort whose purpose is to reach a variety of population groups to make UMO activities more accessible. Live music is conducive to wellbeing and health. UMO engages in audience outreach activities with children and adolescents, with senior citizens and with special needs groups. UMO gives concerts at schools and daycare centres, visits the elderly in service housing and in institutions, and organises other pedagogical and training events.
